Fear and fire inside my head Like a disease, rapture spread I don’t know what to do with the time I have left Throw myself down a hole in pursuit of feeling? Empire of the Afternoon Lazy shaking hands with you. Came too late for parlor tricks. Now, I’ll watch you burn your bridge. Now I’ll watch you make your dreams come true. Empire of the Afternoon.

Fading like a fantasy at the edges of a dream. Standing to the right, listening to you all night. I was an oil tanker wreck, up to chipmunk cheeks in debt. Filling up the sea with salty memories. And if they forget about me, I guess I can readjust my goal and play a supporting role. Coming back into yourself, after serving someone else, can feel like a crime to have your own sense of time. Seven or eight years ago I was on the radio. A college campaign to scrounge up some change, but I was ashamed. My forest was in flames. I hope you forget about me, and know that it never was my goal to play a supporting role. I hope you forget about me, and know that it never was my goal to play a supporting role. Coming back into yourself after years of someone else

Duckpin 04:13
“Shaking like a dog” Don’t care what you thought, you know that it’s not a good song. Found it on my own, connected by phone, so I couldn’t stay on too long. Walking like a dope through the old neighborhood. Never imagining there was something wrong. I’ve been hanging around, plastic leather jacket on, thinking that my time had come, but what am I doing now? I’ve been dreaming about a past I never really lived. Behold the model idiot who figured it all out Heard a voice from the past. One of dumb motivation Said I watched you grow. Now you’re full grown and vacant Heard a voice from the future Her laugh was just like your laugh Said don’t hold too tight to what you didn’t do in those years You’ll never get them back. Now I’m shaking like a dog, (shitting.) What, have you never heard that song? We should give it a listen. I wonder if it still holds up? Put it on in the kitchen. I wish I never heard that song, but we should listen. I wonder if it still holds up.

King David 03:40
A surfer settling down in a cemetery town. Flashback to a feature that you’d written for me. Your story has a sting, but as children you were king. You thought yourself a ruler of a brutal monarchy. King David, atop your fiery mountain. You glare as your subjects coil in fear. The teacher, Columbine averted, destroyed you in front of all your peers. Some summer starry night, your fearless eyes burn bright. I watched you shoot a rifle, mix the soda with the strong. You were moving far away, down tracks and alleyways. My favorite mischief maker, but I could not come along. King David, at some anarchist concert, Surrounding the center of your sun. Your planets, some handsome vice consumers. A different side of you had won. My family moved away from our childhood place. From time to time I wonder if you think of me. Out on your lonely trail, somewhere beyond the veil. Maybe there you’re a leader, king David.

Call my name out loud and dumb, beneath the swinging pendulum. Surrounded by a swath of locals trying to raise the flag. On this godless city scene we talk about the Yellow King, As coyotes pull garbage to the forest for a snack. “Temple’s burning” smokes a pearly gate. Learning secrets just a bit too late. (and with you I celebrate) Now that dizzy feelings’ known, three years in the thunderdome I’m so amazed you came along and let me in your life. Recognize the only drag, we don’t know how much time we have. Get heart attack, get earth collapse, get swallowed by the light. Very scary, ordinary life. Play me that song, makes me feel alright. Alien, Extraordinary Sound. I wanna love you while we’re fading out.

Lack 03:44
Eating out of dirty hands. A pilgrimage to foreign lands. I’m shotgun on the left. Can’t drive manual yet. Plus I’m scared I’d hit a sheep or a man out on these back roads. Coming near the family home Moving through a town we don’t know, and You don’t wanna talk about The boarded up church, or house, Or the strange coat of arms hugging hard on the flagpole I’m a passenger with a pocket knife Hold a pillow close, just out of my sight. You say “let’s waste some time” Running out of things to say, we come across a bad parade. You spot it from afar. Say “get back in the car.” I’m sick, a couple burgundy bricks come touch our temples. Drop an hour in the dark. Wish I could say where we are, but lights they have gone down. Plastic bag wrapped around (me) And I’m breathing out the miserable feelings through a pinhole. Been a passenger for most of my life. Like I’m eating crow, like I’m frog in throat. You’ll see in due time. Drop me in the river I’m alright. Baptize me against the moonlight Drop me in the river I’m alright

Garland Greene at the Hollywood Casino on the Mezzanine What is stuck inside your mind? Are you staring at some old prop? A sunken ship from some expensive film. Thinking, one day I’ll be there, cataloged, distilled, to be viewed. I dressed up your melody, made it Victorian. Sung the song in daydream at the auditorium. Asking “would you leave that boy’s club clouding up your mind? I hope you will. I expect better. Those thoughts can kill, it’s true” (CJ Harvey, 2018) I stripped down your script and dressed up something I could sell. Sung your song in 115, got them under my spell. Man, I’m gonna be a legend. Making monsters that you’d like up on the screen. Hand over my fist, I am grasping for more. And at the Hollywood Casino, I lost my shirt. At the Hollywood Casino, At The Hollywood…. And at the Hollywood Casino, I lost my shirt. I lost my shit, I lost it

Rural World 03:41
My uncle he sees fear coming down the mountain Sanctified and weird a crawling cloud The worlds been led astray smoke pouring from a papal grave Locked his whole world away to block out the sounds So I thought I’d spend some time living in the country Trying to do my part in someone else’s house Slept hard on the flight And at some trad sesh open mic We saw we had the stain And so did everybody else Your rural world is fascinating Open up your door And I’ll do my best to play the part We all like to think our lives are holy and unspoken for But everyone’s got something in their heart but your grandmother and mine led some very different lives may our parents be released, respond and move ahead before she took off and ran, killed an animal with her bare hands while yours watched English tanks roll over her flowerbed this rural world’s imaginary open up your door Though it takes a lot to play the part We all like to think our lives are holy and unspoken for But everyone’s got darkness in their heart

Driving, dreaming of Sligo underwater. Knocknarea tidal wave, lick the boardwalk clean. Sweep Audis from the scene and wash away. Dizzy on the beach, I brought you a bad relation. Coquetting on your wedding. Sowing the seeds of hesitation. I saw my future face in your sunglasses Atop douglas fir, holding a rollercoaster, And your old man was shaking hospital shakes, nearly bursting from the power. Call me a sunflower coward if you want. Call me a sunflower coward if you want. An idea could stretch me across a violent ocean. It’s wilted, you killed it. Strangling the flowers of devotion. I saw my future face in a close-up mirror. Man, it’s gonna fall off that beat up drywall. And I swear I’m shaking hospital shakes, might not last another hour. Call me a sunflower coward if you want. Call me a sunflower coward if you want…etc.

Deeper Magic 02:58
dream journal 100 days and wake up to a passion play your grandmother had seen outside her room I don’t know how long this will last A bullet train before a crash, I don’t mean to imply I’ll be there soon. Would you listen to the speaker? Motivation to make the magic deeper.
